A Constant Purification Process: Pray with Pastor Chris

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin (1 John 1:7).

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome has often emphasized the transformative power of the Word of God. Living according to its teachings brings immense peace and simplicity to life, helping us avoid the everyday struggles and stresses associated with Christian living.

In Rhapsody of Realities, Pastor Chris spoke about walking in God’s light.

Our opening scripture from 1 John 1:7 reveals a profound truth: in Christ, we are constantly purified, eliminating the need to be overly concerned with our sins.

Walk in the Light: Pastor Chris’s Highlights Revealed

All that is required is to walk in the light as He is in the light. As Pastor Chris frequently teaches, this means the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin. This cleansing is automatic and continuous, happening naturally without the need for us to pray for it explicitly. It is an ongoing purification process.

Why is this continuous cleansing necessary? The world we live in is challenged by sin and darkness. By walking in the light, all our errors, mistakes, and missteps—many of which we might not even be aware of—will be cleansed. Walking in His light ensures we remain pure and righteous. His light is synonymous with His Word.

Pastor Chris highlights Jesus’ words: “Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you” (John 15:3). The Word of God acts as a cleanser, purifying us. If you are born again but still find yourself repeatedly praying the prayer of salvation, it may be because you are viewing yourself in a different light, one that highlights your flaws.

Instead, see yourself under God’s light. His light reveals that you are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. Embrace this truth and live accordingly. As Pastor Chris mentions, God’s light is His truth, and His truth is His Word. Walking in the light, therefore, means living according to the Word of God, which purifies your soul and purges your conscience from dead works to serve the living God.

Pray with Pastor Chris

Dear Father, I thank you for your grace and the power of your righteousness at work in me. As I walk in your light, I’m automatically cleansed and purified by the blood of Jesus. I’m justified by the grace of Jesus Christ, and I walk in His righteousness, free from the accusation of the evil one. Your righteousness is expressed in my thoughts, words, and actions, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

A Constant Purification Process: Further Study

Pastor Chris encourages the believers to engage in the following bible study:

  • Corinthians 6:11: And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
  • John 15:3 AMPC: You are cleansed and pruned already, because of the word which I have given you [the teachings I have discussed with you].
  • Ephesians 5:25-26 NIV: Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word.

By understanding and embracing the concept of continuous purification through Christ’s light, we can live a life free from the burden of sin consciousness and experience the true freedom and righteousness that comes from walking in the Word of God.
